Joffre 1 & 11 solar farm will generate 47MW of energy and take up a fenced areas of approximately 215 acres on the SW and NW Quarters of Section 30, Township 38, Range 25, West of the 4th Meridian. The project connects to the electrical grid via Altalink and Fortis, Joffre 535S substation and will consist of 112,294 Longi LR5-72HBD-525-545M 540, 545, 550 Wp, bifacial solar panels on single axis trackers and 12 SMA MVPS 4600 kW inverters.
The site will generate enough energy to power approximately 8,971 typical Albertan households, save 46,030 tonnes of carbon annually, and 1,023,644 tonnes over the 25-year initial lifetime of the Project.
PACE believes the proposed development is in keeping with the character of the area and makes a vital contribution to addressing the climate emergency. It will also help to mitigate soaring energy costs, increase local biodiversity while supporting Alberta’s rural economies.
The Joffre project is currently under construction. The estimated in-service date is October 2023.
